Department of Botany started its journey in the year 1971. Before that the department of Zoology and department of Botany was joint and was known as Department of Biology. The department is offering both Pass and Honours courses in its UG level study. Pre UG level study is also offered by the department. The department has 3 teaching posts.

Departmental Activity
The faculty members of the department publishes many research papers during the last few years . Educational tour is organized every year to visit the different places of botanical interest for the upliftment of the students of the subject. Dr. Taj Uddin Khan, has done one major research project funded by UGC, New Delhi . The department organised a UGC sponsored national seminar on biodiversity conservation. The department is also offering One year Diploma in Biotechnology, a UGC sponsored Career Oriented Course.
